Drink: Bardstown Origin Series (96 Proof), Retail $45
The next 90 days will be huge for Crypto Dungeon! We first had Crypto Dungeon on Crypto Sip And Shill on August 3, 2023. We invited Lee, one of the project’s founders, back to provide a project update. The team is pressing ahead with plans to launch their full Dungeons and Dragons play-to-earn (P2E) online roleplaying game. Earlier this week in a
post on X (Twitter) they dropped a video teaser that showed some of the character NFTs and the 3D online gaming environment. Video viewers also got to see founders Brad and Lee and the full-time Dungeon Master, Donovan Chase. You can check out the video below.
What’s Behind The Tweet (Post)?
I tried to post the video without the accompanying tweet (post), but it didn’t quite work out for me. If you’ve never encountered Crypto Dungeon and aren’t familiar with the company behind the upcoming game, I think it’s a good idea for me to explain what they do. They are game developers and Cosmos validators.
We got knocked out of the @cosmoshub active set but have a plan to secure a spot in the next days for good… can anyone help by staking atoms? Our game is rapidly in progress and should launch in Nov but we need our commissions to fund the game. #atom #juno #stars
Crypto Dungeon
The team aims to fund the game with commissions generated from being among the 180 active Cosmos validators. Remaining securely inside the 180 validator active list is a huge deal and an important piece to keeping gameplay free for gamers. Right now, the only planned expense for players is the purchase of NFTs, which the team says will be reasonably priced. At the time of the post above, Crypto Dungeon had fallen off the active list of 180, and any expansion of the active list, in the short-term, would require an unlikely governance vote. The team made an appeal to holders to stake their ATOM (the native token of Cosmos) with them. After a brief period out of the active set, Crypto Dungeon now sits at #179, just ahead of the centralized exchange Crypto.com – a bit too close for comfort, but on the list nonetheless. Now they can continue focusing on the game.
A Few Nuggets On Gameplay
The team continues to drop gameplay hints as development continues. Accessing the massive 3D gaming environment will require more than a mobile phone. To maximize the gaming experience, players will need a computer set up with a decent graphics card. Now, I’m no expert in this arena, so I do not know how involved I will be in the actual gaming experience upon initial launch. However, I do plan to purchase a few of the Stargaze-based character NFTs.

Players will earn by collecting in game tokens found throughout the gaming environment. These tokens can be exchanged for items within the game environment – like a Crypto Dungeon economy. Unlike some P2E games in this space, there is no way to “buy your way to the top”. Players will earn their tokens, creating a fair system and gaming experience. As the game grows in popularity and attracts more players, earning tokens may prove to be a profitable endeavor.
The Crypto Dungeon team is thinking ahead and exploring ways to make the game scalable. When all goes well, more dungeon masters will be needed and likely more tech resources will be required to accommodate more players. As far as gameplay, Lee also revealed the idea of a high risk – high reward “hardcore gameplay” concept that team may introduce at some point. Hardcore mode will raise the token earning stakes, but it can also cost the life of your game character. This should help keep gameplay fresh and add a layer of challenge for those who want to break away from the norm.
Sound Interesting? Here’s What’s Next For Me
Lee is always very enthusiastic when it comes to Cosmos. I need to learn more, but what I’ve heard and read so far sounds promising. Dabbling in Cosmos will require me to deviate from my normal BSC and ETH TrustWallet ways. I will need to add a wallet that allows me to trade in the Cosmos ecosystem. During Sip And Shill, Lee dropped a few wallet names, but later messaged me suggesting that I check out Leap. I’m not 100% certain, but I think I remember hearing Lee mention that MetaMask may be gearing up to support Cosmos, and as a MetaMask user, I hope that is the case.
NFT whitelist spots are coming, so I plan on spending more time in the Crypto Dungeon discord and on their X thread to keep up with their latest announcements. Buying and staking ATOM will likely be my final move in making the Cosmos leap. Again, I need to learn more, and I encourage anyone interested to do their own research.
